Spread the love

Anyone else going to the Craps Tournament in Connecticut this Thursday night? If so, I would love to meet up.

Michael, Since I am in central Texas I certainly won’t be there. But wish you the best of luck.

I once played in a craps tournament many years ago and had a little success I came in 7th and won $200. I had no idea of what I was doing and just got lucky. It is my understanding that like a BJ tournament at times you must throw out what you know is the best way to play–for example in a BJ tournament sometimes you will violate from basic strategy by hitting a hard 17 because you are behind in the chip count and not many hands left to be dealt—you need to win something.

The same will hold true for a craps tournament. The tournament I was in each round was for 30 throw–period. If the first roller had a hand of 7 there were 23 possible rolls for the next roller. If this person has a 10 roll only 13 rolls are left. When a player rolls the 30th cumulative roll the round is over. Chips are counted. There will be 3 or 4 rounds over a couple of hours or days depending on the rules. There is a good possibility that you will never touch the dice so you have no control. In this case you can pretty much throw out GTC concepts. Remember this is the short run so anything can happen. You may want to even bet some of the prop bets in the middle of the table.

Just go, have fun and enjoy yourself. These things can be a lot of fun and you might just win something.

The tournament I was in the winner had $150 left is chips for the last roll of the last round. He put it on the 12 and the chicken feeder roll a 12 and he won $4500 and the tournament. It is a lucky thing.

Doc,
Thanks for the advice. I certainly do enjoy these tournaments as they are a lot of fun. Unfortunately my skills that I have learned from GTC will not come into play. But one thing I have learned in these types of tournaments is watching peoples chip stacks and betting accordingly.
This tournament is a 20 minute round where the top two chip counts from each round move up. There are three rounds of play. Last tournament I played in I got to the final table and same idea as yours, the guy kept hitting the prop bets. I was playing place bets and put bets on all 6 numbers to try to catch up and although I was close, i didn’t make it. But I plan on having some fun and winning outside in the casino. Hoping to meet up with Mr.Finesse and the East coast guys tomorrow morning.

It was a lot of fun. I made it to the final table but did not win. Played a little that night and then met the east coast gang Friday morning and tripled my buy in.

That was a great morning session, we all made some cash. It is great when a couple of people are having good day’s, I must complement Doug on his 3 extended hands(28, 30 & 34). I do not know what my hands were but a few of them were excellent.

I have been re-energized with The New GTC"s philosophy where the students are first and not just a few being in an inner circle, I now enjoy playing again and will soon be back to my skill level I was at when we started GTC. Practice along with a good mental attitude is making this happen.
