Watch for Small Print with LVH Resort Fee: A reader has written in with a heads-up in response to our recent Question of the Day about hotel resort fees. LVH (the former Las Vegas Hilton) recently introduced a nightly resort fee, which we were told included fitness center access, which is pretty standard. However, this is a first-hand account of what the fee actually includes:
"I recently stayed at the LVH and the resort fee DOES NOT include fitness center access. Instead, the LVH has set up a new area in the main hotel with cardio equipment only and access to that area is what is included in the resort fee. If you want to use the fitness center, which has strength machines in addition to cardio machines, you have to either pay $20 per person or upgrade to a Resorts room for $25 per day. This was made clear to me by the reservation agent, and I saw the new cardio area when I stayed at the hotel in July. Plus, if you choose to upgrade to the Resorts room, you still have to pay the resort fee on top of the upgrade charge." Yikes!
