This is a GENERAL Review of the NEW REVEL in AC. It complies with all GTC rules. I wrote it to make my GTC friends aware a what the resort has to offer. I hope it is informative.
Revel – RANDOM THOUGHTS in no particular order
Well I finally got to Revel in AC. I went yesterday afternoon (Sunday). I spent about TWO HOURS just exploring. I the Played Pai Gow for a couple of hours."The place is vast and I think I saw only about 70% of it.
Here is what I found:
The AC Expressway has new signage directing motorists to "REVEL BEACH" using the AC connector tunnel to Route 30. I believe this is the best way to get there.
The parking structure is huge with digital signs directing motorist to available spaces. I parked on 12 the highest level other than the roof, which was closed. I walked up to the parking lot roof to enjoy an amazing view of the city. Parking is currently $5 and it is paid on a ticket vending machine.
I started on the Hotels main Casino level which is the 6th floor. This is like no other place in AC. It is really a small town with outdoor parks and indoor area for relaxing, reading, shooting pool, playing air hockey or foosball.
The outdoors areas have pools and whirlpools as well as fires pits and music.
The Spa Pools are on the Hotel Level. The largest pool starts indoors and continues out to the rooftop deck. That is surrounded by whirlpools. The indoor section has pool tables and such for entertainment.
The Mezzanine Level pools have private cabana.
The Ocean views are amazing on all levels
There are numerous restaurants and shops with more to come. The restaurants range from An indoor inexpensive Taco truck with frozen margaritas and such to upscale "Celebrity Chef" establishments. There are bars everywhere.
There is a cool "Ultra Lounge" bar with amazing view and four high limits tables. It is open to the public but I think this may one day be a high roller lounge.
The casino is dark. With Red carpeting and a black ceiling. Lights are strategically placed but overall it is dimmly lit.
There are plenty of the newest Slots, that I can not make heads nor tails of, but people must love them because they were getting plenty of use. I scouted the Video Poker but I did not see any full pay tables. They may have had some but I did not see them.
Blackjack was $10 and $15. The $10 were hit soft 17. The $15 were stand on Soft 17. It was all 3 to 2 payoff.
There were ten Craps tables all manned with personnel. Nine were $10 one was $15. The tables were not too busy. a couple had no players at times.
Three card Poker tables were all filled with players.
Only Two Pai Gow Poker tables. Both $10 min to $1000 max. NOTE: Pai Gow poker Fortune side bet has Poor pay table as compared to others in AC. I had some orange, purple and black chip players at my table. They were asking for the max to be raised but they were told not till Memorial day. I also had the good fortune of having a beautiful Sharon Stone Look alike at my table she was a high roller with a great personality and a low cut top. She really livened the table. BTW BANKING by players is allowed.
Roulette had the computerized sign with "Hot and cold" numbers and percentage frequency of different bets. They also had electronic roulette with a live dealer spinning the ball.
Huge poker room which was only about 20% full. In addition, to Hold em they have Seven Card Stud.
The casino dealers are excellent. great interaction and customer service.
The casino area has what I call catwalks, above it, where patrons could look down on the action
The cocktail waitresses are dressed pretty conservatively in a black business type mini dress.
Revel Players cards were easy to get the line moved very fast. Plus there are reps walking around with handheld sign up machines.
Bathrooms (always a big thing with a germaphobe neat freak like me.) Were spotless with an attendant in the larger ones. The stalls are the full door type similar to Borgata.
Hotel Check in had numerous agents and few people checking in. There are bars, lounge and recreation areas adjacent to the check in.
There are tremendous amounts of business space. an entire wing is set aside for "Think Tanks" and "Boardrooms". I think they are hoping the business crowd will get them through the cold AC winters
There is an open stage are called "The Social" which will showcase bands and "lounge acts"
The Royal Jelly Burlesque Club has scantily clad young ladies dancing provocatively on a raised stage.
MY THOUGHTS
The NO SMOKING policy is great.
The crowds were nowhere near what I expected. Plenty of delers standing at empty tables. I was surprised to see that when I briefly walked next door to the Showboat which is a glorified slothouse and it was packed!!
It is going to take time for Revel to find it’s market. The senor citizen bus crowd is not going to gravitate here they want the free roll of quarters and the 2 for 1 buffet. What Revel will eventaully get is the business conventions. It will also get the High rollers from NY NJ and Philly. The NY casinos just have machines so big players will still head to AC. The Philly Players have the Sugarhouse which is surrounded by very high crime(WORSE THAN AC) and populated by gang bangers and other low lives, so the big players from that area will head here. Revel with also attract the 20 and thirty some things. They are in the process of building a four story music club that will pull the nightlife crowd from Borgata and Harrah’s Pool.
Unfortunately, I think many of Revel’s new hires will be laid off after the summer. Numerous dealers were at empty tables now. The Hotel checking had more agents that people checking in.
Final word if you want to visit REVEL go before Memorial Day, these low table minimums will be raised when they officially open that weekend.
I took a bunch of Photos which I will try to figure out how to post

I recognized many of the dealers and pit personnel from other casinos in AC. Spoke to one (very good) craps dealer at another casino who told me he was there working when I was there but he was dealing BJ at that time. I know a few dealers who applied to work there and several who are moonlighting at Revel and their primary casino.

The craps tables had $5 and $10 minimums, and as Skinny mentioned, the $10 was packed and the $5 was empty. We also saw a pit supervisor whom we knew. I asked about using chairs, as there are no other table games near the craps pit from which to borrow. He said he has seen some people take the nearby high bar stools to sit on, and so far no one has said anything. I mentioned I have a disability card, and he thought if I showed it, perhaps nothing would be said about taking a stool. However, they looked very uncomfortable.
Scan’s second "Lounge photo" shows an area where there will be many many retail stores that are not yet open. The doors are there, and it looks like it will be packed with stores if the spots are all leased.
Everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. The area was immaculate. How nice that there is no smoking throughout.
Now the however: They are not really looking to give comps for food or free rooms. Right now, rooms are over $200 mid-week, and much higher on weekends. There is a point system, but it takes 1000 points to get free parking at valet, which is now $10. On weekends, it will be higher. We don’t see how this will hold up, unless people see it as a destination vacation ,and not a place they want to gamble. Even wealthy people want freebies when they lose gambling. No one else going to AC pays those rates in any casino hotel.
AC is primarily for people living within driving distance, not a vacation resort like Las Vegas. Regulars have at least the second level players card, and either don’t pay for parking or pay only $5. Third tier regulars do not pay for parking. Many second tier and almost all third tier players have plenty of points for free food and rooms. Other AC casinos are free-er with comps so people will come to gamble. Perhaps Revel only wants vacationers to go to their shows and restaurants. We will see what happens.
There has been some confusion over the pronunciation of the name. It is Revel, with the accent on the first syllable, not the second syllable. It means, "Revel in the excitement. Revel in the luxury." Etc.

Like I said it is a nice place but I prefer other places in the city to play.
On a side note, Sat. 4/21 Ceasars had 12 craps table open and a majority were filled to the brim. The Trop was also packed. It seemed to have wall to wall women of all different flavors. That place is a single guys dream on a Sat. It also has a very good atmosphere. They do not offer hop bets and I don’t like that. I don’t hop all the time but when I’m in a zone I like the freedom to do so. They had 6 tables going, 4 aircrafts and 2 12’s. I caught an open 12 and won a quick hundred before a lady and her friend felt the need to buy in and load their chips in my landing zone. I hit her chip and 7’ed. My fault, I meant to shoot over her chips and they fell short…part of the game when you play solo.

Oh BTW, all of you that think this is great, remember that for our habit we are covering a lot of sales tax that you would have to pay if not for us

Dominator, it’s very kind of you, thanks, but I’d prefer that you stop smoking and just give me the tax money directly. Thanks 😆 😀
The place seems nice indeed but with no comped rooms, I doubt I’ll be visiting often. Then again, they probably don’t want my kind over there. I’m over 25, don’t go to clubs, don’t play slots and I’m a low roller to boot… they’ll do just fine without me.
