Pit boss differences

Spread the love

I was in Vegas recently and ran into two different types of Pit bosses and dealers. At one place most pit bosses and dealers were great, however one one session the pit boss said to another advantage player to hit the back wall (the dice did), the next roll he said one dice did not hit hard emough, the next roll he said that the dice did not roll enough after hitting the wall. When it was my turn I was having a 10+ roll and then he stopped me and said I could not stand on my toes. We left. At another casino owned by same co we were playing and some player asked the dealer about a craps book and the pit boss and dealers made some good comments and said that all of the books has increased craps playing and were good for the game. The pit boss at this casino and dealers are very friendly and good to all players. They even ask if I was happy with the rating they gave me.
Anyone have any comments? By the way it was a very profitable trip.

Some times even the dealers will tell you that the pit is crazy.
They are all different and some times all it takes is a bad cup of coffee .
What ever. The list could go on forever.
Good Rolling. 😀

Great post, Rubin74.

Players and casino personnel alike, you’ll encounter many different personalities in the craps pit.

Follow Dominator’s commandments and always have a bet for the dealers when you are the shooter. And at other times if it helps to do so.

If you following the rules of the game and are doing the above, and continue to get heat, advantage playing conditions no longer exist.

Politely coloring up and moving on is the proper thing to do.

You made the right choice by leaving, Rubin74. Well done!

I am usually the only one at the table tipping. I usually say something like dealers on the line and the dealers do appreciate the tips no matter how small

After talking to many pit people i believe that it starts upstairs.

the shfit boss wants it run a certain way he tells the bos to do this, this makes the boxman uneasy to have to treat peoplethis way, but it si his job,so he is even madder about it, the crew knows this and supports him to lighten the pressure he is under from upstairs to be this way.

The whole time they are cussing upstairs worse than you because they just sit upstairs and don’t help with the flack, and watch money go to the other casino.

It all depends on the pit boss.

Last year I was at a Vegas casino in the AM and had no problem at all. I returned at night and as soon as I started to set the dice, the Pit Critter came racing over and said " No Setting The Dice"… As I had not tossed, I took down all my bets (Yes Skinny a $1 Fire Bet) and took my chips to the cashier. One of the dealers raised his eyebrows.

At my regular casino I have no problem with setting etc and get along great with all the dealers and pit people. About 3 montha ago I joined a group of fellow GTCers and we all made $$$. After we all left, I was talking to one of the dealers and she said that " she really enjoined dealing to our group as we all knew the proper bets, what the payoffs should be , no late bets etc etc."

Sometimes, it is just not worth arguing with them … after all it is their game.

This is something that took me a long time to learn 😀
