Q:
With the NFL season just around the corner, can you list which sportsbooks are associated with which casinos?
A:
Sure thing!
Among the big players, MGM Mirage International and Caesars Entertainment properties both operate their own race and sports books at all of their Las Vegas properties. The same goes for LVH, home of the famous SuperBook, where legendary race and sports book manager Jay Kornegay has been at the healm for many years, despite all the turmoil the rest of the property has been through around him. Wynn/Encore has a long-respected staffer running the show in the shape of Johnny Avello, who in his "spare" time makes lines for entertainment purposes on the odds for reality TV shows like Dancing with the Stars, or big award ceremonies like the Oscars.
Boyd Gaming has kept its books in-house, and runs those at Gold Coast, Orleans, Sam’s Town, California, Fremont, and Suncoast. Likewise, Stations owns and operates its books, including the Fiestas and "Wilds." The Stratosphere operates its own book, and those at its two Arizona Charlies’ sister properties. South Point not only runs its own book, but also took over operations at Rampart, Cannery, and Eastside Cannery.
Among the outside operators, which now control a whole slew of books, Cantor Gaming was the first outsider to get in on the act, when M Resort debuted in 2008 with a book run by Cantor. More recruits followed thick and fast, with the Tropicana, Hard Rock, Cosmopolitan, Venetian/Palazzo, Palms, and Silverton all now under the Cantor umbrella.
Three years later, British bookmaking behemoth William Hill got a lot more than a foot in the Nevada market, with its purchase first of the Leroy’s and then the Lucky’s sports book chains. William Hill now operates the sports book at the Riviera (on the Strip), Ellis Island, Hooters, the Westin, Siver Sevens, and Tuscany (off the Strip), plus the D, Four Queens, Binion’s, Golden Gate, and Plaza downtown. (They’ve also been named as the operator at the Downtown Grand, debuting later this year.)
In addition, you’ll find William Hill at the Silver Nugget, Longhorn, Big Horn, Opera House, Poker Palace, the casinos out at Primm, and a whole raft of other small joints both here and elsewhere in the state. At these books, you can sign up for a William Hill loyalty card, that’s separate to the host casinos’ player-rewards system, and earn separate points for all the sports wagers you make.
