Finisher and I have had ongoing discussions in the past about using the doey-don’t on video craps to get comps and tier points at Harrah’s casinos.
He says he knows these players who make large bets on the pass and don’t pass. Then he sees them get diamond status with little risk.
I pointed out how they are kidding themselves into thinking they have very little at risk. In the long run they would do better just betting the pass or don’t pass all by itself. I ran through the math. Gave examples using various bets. In the end I showed him the doey-don’t was a fools errand costing more over time. I explained that these guys were getting comps and tier points because they were betting huge sums AND LOSING according to the math.
But I am not sure I was able to convince him differently. I think he still thought there was some "magic" in their ratings’ formula that somehow gave players more than they deserved when betting the doey-don’t.
Let’t say I was highly skeptical to say the least. The math is never wrong and casinos (especially those with the resources of Harrah’s) rarely get it wrong!
I guess they have now limited them to a max of $1 each way on the doey-don’t.

Thanks, now I know what is going on with this discussion. You are so right, you can not beat the math of the game.

So now no more 10.00 bet with odds .
It is a good game for a person to learn craps but other then that it is fun .
They got 7 star not diamond . That could be done in a day . The way they bet .
If you do the math the old way just about every roll you would get a point or more and not loose that much compared to a slot.
Like I said in other post they would set for the 12 on come out . I guess the odds of it coming right back are slim. Some times they bet the 12 for one dollar too.
So say on a long roll they may end up down or up a few pennies .They just wanted their money back with the points.
The more box numbers rolled the better I would guess. Since that is were they make their points . Coin in coin out .
You just need to look at it in a different way . More in line with slots then the real game .
In the real game of craps this does not work at all . I know this but thought that it was interesting to watch all this unfold and see that even tho the math is right there are ways to change things .
Good Rolling. 😀 😀
