Craps

I am interested in what you think.

There is a link to an article in the Latest Casino News message board from the NJ Star Ledger about an advertisement Revel has been running. While it pertains to slot play, it could just as easily be about craps or any other form of gaming. I am interested in your opinion about the way Revel is doing their marketing under their new management.

Please read the article and a few of the comments following the article in the news story. I wrote a short post with some questions. I am interested in your opinions.

The Tropicana in Vegas has the same promo going for ever and we checked it out and left the casino with out playing a penny finding it to have left a very bad taste in our mouth.

LOL, that is really funny. The Trop does this as a regular course of business so it can not be very costly. Yet, Revel is making such a big deal of this here in the East and they are only doing it for one month. They make it sound like they are giving you something great. I felt the same way you did about it.

The Revel promo may not be legal.
But old folks and naieve gamblers fell and are falling for it.
So the casino got more slot players and showed a profit.
I predict the promo, if continued, will work because these gamblers
figure what the heck, they may not get full refund but even a little
bit is better than nothing, which nothing it would be without the promo.
Nothing was good enough before the promo,
so the possibility of a measure (5% to 100%) of refund, even if in "points" is better.
And they gamble anyway.
Nothing else to do, these guys. And life goes on, they will tell you.
Casinos are gearing up for the baby-boomers, and licking their chops.
What say you? – to repeat a common phrase.

I do not play slots and normally do not pay attention to any promo’s about slots, but this caught my attention. Enough that I went to web site to see if it could be true. I found out that it was not as advertised. Just as I thought. I never gave it a second thought and never went to the REVEL.

So I think what they are doing is deceptive, but I researched for myself to find out if true. When discovered it was not, I moved on.

What I found especially interesting in their new ads is that they are advertising, "GAMBLERS WANTED". They are putting it up front and center that they want you if you are a gambler. I find this interesting because of the effort I put into NOT being a gambler but rather an advantage player. I worked damn hard not to be a traditional gambler. So their advertising is not going to get me. Let them get the gamblers. I am not one of them. (I hope).

"What’s more, customers don’t receive their entire “refund” in one shot. The casino will give customers the credits in 5 percent increments over 20 weeks starting Aug. 5, but if you don’t visit the casino for each of those 20 weeks, you don’t get your full “refund.”

That’s the funniest part about it, 5 percent increments over 20 weeks and if you don’t make it down 1 week you miss out on your 5%…..this promotion is insulting. The Revel is a beautiful place but for some reason it’s not my kind of place.
