Hi!
Did any of you see the article about spending billions of dollars on a train from Victorville California to Vegas?
I have nothing against using mass transit and if the starting point was closer to LA I think it might work but I can’t imagine driving 100 miles and then parking my car for a 150 mile train trip to Vegas.
I think it sounds like a real waste of money but I don’t live in California so I am interested in anyone else’s thoughts on this and especially if they think they would use this train service.
Thanks!

They have been talking about this for 30 years and can’t get it right.
It takes approximately 3 1/2 hours and 3/4 of a tank of gas to get to Vegas. Most people who do the drive can do it in their sleep, it’s an easy, flat drive. There is routine built into it, most drivers know where the speed traps are and when the traffic crunch times are.
Unless they come up with a speed train that can get there in about 2 hours from Downtown LA or Pasadena, at an tolerable price and deliver the passengers to their individual hotels in an expeditious way, I don’t think most Angelenos will get out of their cars.
