Hi,
I currently have a receiving station that I practice on. I am considering getting a half craps table to replace the receiving station. My thought is that on a half craps table, the bounce would be a more “true bounce” as opposed to the receiving station. My question is whether or not it is worth getting the half craps table and replacing the receiving station. Has anyone done this and was it worth it to you? Also, do you think I am correct about the bounce being different between the two?
Thanks.

GTC sells an insert into your receiving station that will mirror a hard surface. fyi
Hard Insert – Turn your Golden Touch Receiving Station into hard table surface easily!
http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/rigs.shtml
Now you can shoot on somewhat bouncy (normal receiving station) and hard surfaces to mirror the casinos!
Fits perfectly in the Golden Touch Receiving Station Now you can have the original Golden Touch surface to practice for that light touch and convert the surface to a hard top two different surfaces = two different touches. Easy assembly.

Thanks PointMan! I also was told that not only the bounce but since it is larger, you can get a more accurate number result. For example, on a receiving station, if one of you dice hits the side, can that really be considered a true result, since in a casino it would not have hit the side wall. So then you are wandering if that would have really been that number. Am I over thinking this, or is there truth to this?

No Louis, if the dice hit the sides of a receiving station your not going to get a true result. But, you should be more concerned in the early days more with having the cube settle within a small distance from the impact point and back wall.

Louis As you know I built my own table with help from this site .I started to build a half table then said to myself why not just add a few feet more then it will be full length. With Home depot doing all the cuts it is pretty easy . I found out later that I should have used binder board for ends which would have made it easier then it was .
I think the plans and pics. are still on this site.
The big cost is the felt.
I have mine were I built it on my patio. You do need room for it unless you build it like a leaf to a table . Were it will come out when in use . Just a thought after I built mine .
Enjoy which you decide on .
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

AS far as the bounce if you are thinking of getting a half table from us, the bounce on our half tables will be exactly like the bounce on our full tables. Where the dice land we make it 1.5 inches thick, just like the thickness of our full tables.

Hi Louis, I did exactly what you are thinking about doing. I bought a throwing and a receiving station from GTC about 2 years ago. I was thinking about getting a full table from GTC but I use my living room for my Craps practice and when we have visitors I take my "casino" down and put it in the garage. During the class in AC this February I spoke with Dom to understand if the full table easily came apart and be moved. He said it came apart easily enough but some of the parts weighted 200 lbs. or so. He recommended the 1/2 table. I practiced on it a lot during the class and I decided to get one. It arrived and I found out very soon that the 1/2table was not as forgiving as my receiving station. In short, I was seeing the dice behave like they did in the "real" casinos. It has been 4 months since I got the 1/2 table and I am seeing both my practice and casino play getting better. I am truly a believer in the GTC 1/2 practice table.

Thanks Chevy!
I have decided to also get the half craps table. I also talked to Dom, and I am really excited to get the table. This is something I really enjoy and I feel like, why not practice on a table that will resemble as close to what I will be throwing on in live play as possible. Thanks for every ones input!

Get the receiving station AND the throwing station. I have had both for 2 years. I can’t say enough about the quality. I can also fold them up to make room for a dinner party and break them out of storage the next day within minutes.

The New and Improved 1/2 table is awesome. Get Dom to send you a picture and you will have to have one.
