Craps

Saturday in AC

Spread the love

Had a chance to go to AC this weekend with the office for a spring fling. Didn’t think it would be conducive to advantage play as people in office wanted to learn to play craps and they wanted to stay at a place I usually did not play. Being a good boss, I wanted them to have a good day and a good evening so I took a room with my wife at a casino I usually do not play at. Some of the people wanted to go to a cooking class and others the beach. I wanted to take some time to do some advantage play as I thought the evening would be taken up with the office dinner and the "learning" experience for the office.

I checked the get together section of the web site and saw that Davidl2 was going to be there. I contacted him and we met up Saturday morning. We had a good time. David and I had mediocre rolls at best but his wife, shooting from stick right had some great rolls. Her shot looks good. They had taken the last AC primer course and they learned their lessons well. Great people. Looking forward to playing together again.

They had to leave at around 2pm and I had to go pick up the girls from the cooking school and have lunch.

Then I went to play for a short time at the casino with the cooking school. Although the tables were too bouncy for my liking I managed to hold my own. But the best thing happened….my wife, came to play. She never gambles and has never thrown the dice. With some coaxing by me and the dealers we got her to pick up the dice. She had a great roll. Hit 4 points. She used the hardway set and duplicated as best she could, the throw. She obviously had picked up some pointers all these years watching me practice. So much so, that I was kidding her that she must be practicing when I was at work. We made some money and went to get ready for dinner. That night I took the office to a steakhouse where we had a great meal together. You can find out a lot about people you thought you knew when you hang outside of work. I had never done this before and what a great time we all had.

After dinner, we went to the tables, found a $5 empty and I was able to have a good time with all the people from the office. Just random shooting for fun by all. We even managed to make a few bucks off of one of my shoots. All in all a great evening.

I was up early on Sunday and made my way to the casino I like to play at. I had 3 hours before we had to leave to go home. An empty table when I get there, but $15 minimum, unusual for the place and the only table open. I set up and quickly see that my shot is not working great. I started 5 counting myself, the throw started to look better and the results were better. I went on to have 2 decent throws. During the second of those good throws, a gent comes up to the table with a satchel over his shoulder. He drops 3g on the table. asks for all 25 blacks and rest in green. No biggie as I had just made my first point and was waiting for the dice when he did this. He was quick and put a 300 pass line bet down. I established a 6. He puts 1500 across the board and takes full odds on the point. I am shaking my head but I am happy and motivated. I proceed to hit 3 8’s in a row and we are off to the races. At some point the guy puts up 500 on each of the hardways. I did not notice him do it. But when I hit a hard 4 for the point the guy goes nuts. Then I see why. On the come out, he puts 500 on a horn high yo and puts a 100 for the dealers. It was a come out so I use a set with the 5/6 on top and facing me and proceed to throw the yo. I made a 10 yo bet. I am happy but the guy is going nuts again. The dealers are ecstatic. I just cant believe it. I do it again. and they go nuts again.
I then establish another point and make some numbers including 2 hardways that he has 500 on again. The guy has been pressing and has major money on the board. I am making a few bucks but he is just killing them.
I finally crap out. The dealers are clapping. Some for me, but more for the bets the guy made for them. He was making big bets for them all along. I am up about 2g. but the guy has about 25 orange and a stack of black and green.
I color up as it was time to get the wife, check out and go to breakfast before heading home
I get the wife, check out and go to breakfast at the place I just came from. It took less than an hour to do this. After we eat, I go back to the table out of curiosity to see how the guy is doing. He is gone. I ask the dealers how it turned out, hoping the guy colored up. The dealer tells me that the guy went broke. I couldn’t believe it but he gave back all the winnings plus his buy in. Ouch!
Moral of the story: Sometimes when we at GTC get it working, others will win big. Much more than we will ever make due to our strategy. While it may get you crazy, don’t sweat it because they will give it back while you are depositing it in your 401G.

WOW,

Guy buys in for 3K and has over 25K and looses it all back plus his 3K. INsane! You hear of storys like that all the time, but still, come on how in the world can you allow yourself to give it all back. It’s probably not the first time he has done that nor the last. But GEEEEZZZZ! Did he give you a tip at all? Some one takes me from 3K to over 25K I would tip something.

Nice rolling GameDay!

No tip to me but he was making big bets for the dealers. they made out well.
When I spoke to the dealers afterward they said he is a stone cold gambler. They said he is a nice guy who just gambles a lot. But they also said he always has money.

You know, I was feeling a little jealous when I colored up with my winnings which were modest compared to that guy. I realize he made much of the money on high HA bets that I would never have made. That made me feel better. But it was weird to have a good throw and have someone make so much money on bets that I would never have made anyway. If ever I was thinking of doing something crazy, the fact that he lost it all is a good reminder that the math of the game is to be respected. I am glad I left when I did and that the GTC way gave me the discipline to do that.
