I had been having some less that excellent reqults in my recent practice at the table. Like I always do, I was working on my grip while watching television. Television is so bad that we have to have something to do during the commericals. I keep sets of dice all over the house—by the TV chair, in my office, etc.
While watching TV, I set the dice on a small felt covered board in my lap and grip the dice. I hold the dice up in front of me using the TV screen as a back light so that I can see through the dice to make sure the middle finger is centered, the 3 fingers are straight across the dice, and that the thunb is centered.
Some how I could tell that something was not working even if the grip looked really good. I then gripped the dice with my throwing hand while at the same time using the other hand in a "ice tong" grip on the sides of the dice. With the dice held together with my left hand, I released the thumb, first finger and ring finger leaving my middle finger in place. I could see that although the middle finger was centered I had more skin on one die. I examined my middle finger and noticed that on the sides of the tip of my middle finger, each side of the end of my middle finger has a different curve. This meant that when the middle finger is centered one die had more skin touching one of the dice.
So I started moving my middle finger a little off center—and I mean just a very small adjustment. I did this until I got the feel of where that finger should be. Now I had the same amount of skin on eace dice. The improvement in my results was incredible. So monster rolls but consistent money makers in practice.
The main point I want to make is what Frank says in the class all the time. All of of us have hands that are make a little different. Long fingers, short fingers, fingers of different sizes. We each have to have make small adjustments. This simply was mine.
Self critique in practice in most important in our GTC journey. Always be critical of your throw when you practice, after all that is what practice is all about.
Hope this will help some of you.
See everyone in AC.

Mine is the thumb is slightly off center when viewed from the top but when looking along the dice to see the underside of my thumb it is skin centered, even though from the top it doesn’t look that way.
And over time we have to check and check and check again so we don’t creep into something different.
It happened with my grip awhile back.
Thanks

When I am having problems at the casino, I also continue to check my grip by looking down on my thumb, and using a mirror to check the three finger alignment during practice.
Having a spouse who also knows what we need to do helps. Sandtrap checks whether or not I am coming inside during my tosses, which I also do for him. I also check his thumb and finger positions, as well as his release.
Although we all know what we should be doing, sometimes we are tired, or bad habits creep back in if we are not focused.
