Craps

Keeping a low profile

Spread the love

I arrived in AC Tuesday after 1 PM. My favorite casino had two very crowded tables and no openings. I went to one of two other casinos that were nearby. I was in the middle of a 29 roll when a guy comes up to the table and throws down a $100 bill. He yells, "give me a hard 8." The box says, "it’s a bet." My next roll is the hard 8. He collects his $900 and throws me a green chip. When I finished my 29, I hightail it out of there.

By this morning, I was down almost $900. My favorite casino has limited craps hours and only two tables max in play. When I got to the table it was not too crowded. But, my position at SR1 was taken up by a big tall guy who filled SR1 and SR2. I watched for about 25 minutes as he took one $100 kill after another out of his pocket. I finally bought in for a modest sum and shot a 10 roll from SR3 with minimum bets. The big guy got the dice and with numerous expletives, quickly sevened out. He then left the table. I scooted down to SR1 and threw a 12 roll. By the time the dice got back to me, he was back. I now proceeded to roll a 49. He was at SR2-3 happy as can be. When the dice got back to him the box warned him several times about hitting the back wall. When one die did not hit, the box passed the dice to me. The big guy says, " I don’t give a ___, the kid is hot." The box and crew tell him to watch his language and the other players are telling him to stop, because it could hurt my roll. I am in Billy’s Zen mode, even picturing Billy telling me to stay focused. I now roll 40. The big guy can’t contain himself and I say I just got lucky. One of the dealers now says, "Phil, it’s not luck. I see the way you throw. I want to go and gamble with you at another casino." So much for keeping a low profile. It was time for me to meet my wife and sister for breakfast. I went to the cashier. When I feel two big arms going around me and a voice saying, "Phil, I luv ya." It was the big guy. He recouped his losses and was up another $700. I really try to be unobtrusive, but it isn’t easy.

Nice report.
Did you manage to get yourself up from the -900?

Absolutely. I almost doubled up.

I think you handled the situation very well. See, the GTC instruction helps in a lot of ways other than how to throw the dice. My suggestion, stay away from that casino for awhile and let it cool off. Also try a different shift your next trip in order to stay under th radar.

Hope that helps. My $.02 worth.

Doc-The casino that I did well at is the same one I have hit for the last four months. I rarely have the same crew on. I have wondered about how they employ their crews. For me, it is the best place to play. I do play at other casinos, but not as consistently and successfully. This last trip I promised myself to spread my play around and to some extent I did. I needed to learn to play the violin in different orchestras. A rose by any other name is still a rose, but not a craps table.

It sounds like you are doing your best to stay "under the radar," Philham.

From the rolls you’ve mentioned in your recent posts, it sounds like you’re doing a lot of other things right as well!

It’s often hard not to attract unwanted attention when you’re winning. Also very wise of you to have left before wearing out your welcome…

Congratulations and thanks for writing and contributing to the board, Philham. Great reads all!
