Just returned from a trip to Reno and Tahoe. Just another practice run before the Vegas refresher in June. I learn a lot each visit and thanks to the five count I really have a lot of play time. I was in Tahoe at a table when a group of six older gentlemen came to the table and bought in. They were paying very close attention to my throw from sl1 and the fellow to my left at sl2 started to inquire where I had learned to shoot. I just said I read the usual books and come to find out they were all fully committed players and this fellow had been to a GTC class 3 years earlier. They take the bus from Sacramento once or twice a month and spend a night. This Tahoe casino unlike its affiliate in Reno, does not hate dice controllers that can hit the back wall. He had a great roll in the high twenties and was able to help me with my throw. He was very discreet and helpful. When he threw, I stepped back from the table and gave him all the room he needed. I bought in for one hundred and colored up with 650.
The following day in Reno I played for about two hours on a 3 dollar table and just worked on the arch of my shot, trying to dissipate as much energy as possible. It helped. I came away with positive results and also did away with all of the normal jitters. Through proper tipping and all that I learned with the GTC way, there was no heat from anyone. I five counted myself when I could see the dice were off and took a break when necessary.
I just wanted to say how much I have gleaned from this web site in the last couple of months. I read it each day and as I practice I try to play with every little nuance that I have read about. The renewed excitement that I have witnessed by many of you that have a great deal more experience than I do, is greatly appreciated.
I have saved my 401g now and I just have the beginnings of a shot. When I bet on myself right now I am betting on a random shooter until smart craps says otherwise. I know my limitations and when I forget, the dice remind me very quickly that I am at the beginning. I’m ok with that. I look forward to seeing all of you in Vegas. I’ve got a lot of questions, but in the end I know it’s on me to do the work. I’ve been teaching my trade for many years and I give to my students in much the same way and I guess that’s why I recognize the qualities I see from all of you at GTC.
