Hi All,
Larry stimulated this new discussion for me. It truly bothers me when I read about prolong losing streaks and seeing a BR diminish.
Folks, I have been there where I have chased loses. Frank and Mr Finesse have seen me chase a 9 that hadn’t showed for 31 rolls to the tune of $450. NEVER AGAIN! My BR was able to sustain these loses. I said to myself, I am a great shooter, I will make it back on my roll, and I would, BUT WHY?????? I started to think about how much more my BR would be if I just really started to have discipline at the tables.
Discipline is the hardest thing to master at the tables, but once you master it a consistent winner you will become. That of course if you practice your throwing.
Suggestions for Discipline.
First and foremost, you have to be able to ACCEPT your loses. You will lose! ACCEPT it, but don’t be stupid about your lose. Don’t reach into your pocket for money. The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to be down at the table, with very little of their buy in left and come all the way back to profit. Heck, you say to yourself, "I have done this before, I can do this again!" Sure you can, but is it smart, NO! Walk away and take a break, come back for another day. DO NOT REACH INTO YOUR POCKET!
Next, if you have had an extended losing streak, get some CONFIDENCE BACK! Go into a session, and as soon as you are up, even if it is $1.00, leave the table and the casino, and I do mean LEAVE THE CASINO. You broke the streak! You now can start a winning streak! Nothing is a better feeling than starting a winning streak. Baseball teams will do this all the time. You will see the manager of my favorite team The New York Yankees, Joe Torre, put in the ace reliever in the 8th inning. When asked why by the press, he says we needed this game, even if it is in the middle of the season. Breaking a losing streak with a win, even if it is small, WORKS!

Every gambler experiences losing streaks and at times needs to break that string. However the shooter that is on a losing streak will often make that losing streak worse by doing things that are out of the norm for them.I’ll try to describe some of the things that you might do and why you are doing them.
Because we do what we do we experience many more winning sessions than the average player. We also experience more long hands than the other players do.This can and does work against us at times. When our game is on there are times that it seems so easy to win.At these times you can have streaks of wins that can reach well into double digits.I have had winning streaks that have gone for over a month playing many times per week. Its at these times that we become vulnerable to losing. As you win you can unconsiously make changes in you betting because the wins are coming so often. These changes usually are more aggressive and when you are on will fuel those wins. When the streak stops those bad habits will still be there if you havent recognized the changes that you have made.
The way I try to stop these streaks is by going back to basics and go to my old standby, which is; I take 10% of my buy in make a min line bet, take odds and then cover the inside numbers.I will take two hits on inside numbers and REGRESS to the table minimum bet, take at least two more hits before I press any bets. This method of betting on myself has proven to be very sound over the years. When I get in trouble is when I get away from that plan. When I am on,sometimes I wont regress and lock up a win.On a long hand not regressing will fuel a larger win…BUT…Its a dangerous move because by not regressing I will need 3 more hits on the inside numbers to have as much profit. That being said,if those hits come then the profit will skyrocket but if they dont you’re in a hole.
My advice to those that are experiencing a losing streak is #1 Be conservative #2 Use the plan that gives you the best chance to win,you know your game better than anyone. #3 Get a win and get the heck out.Sometimes this might mean tossing only one hand, getting ahead and leaving the casino to do something else.Until you do this you can’t know how good this feels.
