How do you

When you are used to playing on a shorter table what do you do to get the dice to the wall on a longer table and still sit?

I mean if I tighten my grip a little and speed up my arm swing a little the dice seem to do the best for me , but what do others do to get the dice to go to the wall with the same effort as not to distort your shot?

If I tighten my grip but do not speed up the swing the dice just go higher in the air.

If I speed up the swing without tighting the grip the dice fall out of my hand and loose all ark just heading to the wall at mache two

The Diceman Cometh . . .

Bman, Just like a baseball throw or golf swing, don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it. Let your brain do all the calcs to get the dice where you want them to go. It takes a little more energy, of course, to go the farther distance, and the brain will recalculate what it takes. I’m only aware of a slightly longer back swing, and perhaps a slightly faster forward swing, but I focus on the target landing area, and let ‘er rip. The brain is an amazing thing. It knows when and how to throw to reach a desired target. The come out roll is the time for the brain to calibrate itself. Try it in your practice sessions. Focus on the target. Hope this helps.

Diceman is half correct, one needs to slightly increase the back swing only an inch or two. the part you do not want to do is increase the speed of the delivery, increasing the speed will make the toss land harder and be more volital. Just keep the same slow speed for the delivery and the slight increase in back swing will give you the distance you need to reach the back wall.

The distance from stick L on a 12 foot table is approx. 7 1/2 feet when you go to stick LL what are you adding 1 foot at the most. This is why you only need a slight increase in back swing and no increase in speed of delivery.

I’ve measured it. My right arm is 2 feet long, knuckle to shoulder joint. And I’m 5′-5" tall, right-handed.
If I stand SL1 at 7 1/2 feet from the wall my knuckle will be over the center line on a 12 foot table
at the end of my swing when my arm will be horizontal, with my body and shoulder not moving
backwards from the wall.
Where am I wrong?

I kind of get it . The table is 12 feet then when it turns into a 14 foot table it gets longer by 1 FOOT on each end so that is not much if you have long arms and TALL SHOES. 😀 😀
Good Rolling . 😀 😀

biggest problem i have on a long table is trying to throw to hard. ON oour local 16
foot table i cant throw from sl1, just impossible for me…. i can do a decent job from
sr1, its sems the forward motion is easier than the back ward.

I do not see your arms lenght as a problem, just move back about 6 inches and you will not be close to the center line.

I am only 5′ 4 " tall and on occasion I run into a stick man who say’s I am invading his turf, I just move back a few inches and he is happy. Common sense must prevail, I am sure you will figure it out.

Keep the questions coming, the instructors enjoy helping.

Increasing the speed is not the answer to get the shoot to go longer. For me I just make my back swing a little longer and that puts enough additional energy on the dice to get it to the back wall. Don’t over think this.

Good question!

Mr Finesse I had to LOL A little with that one since I am short too .The last time I was playing at a casino the stick JUMPED OVER TWO FEET AWAY and said that he would give me more room .I was shocked when he stood at r1 . I moved a little over ( 6 in. ) and he moved back to stick but that had never happened before since I do have short arms . I think it was a personal thing . The next stick had no problem .
We all need to adjust and not let little things bother US .
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

Finisher – that had to be a hoot when it happened! Bet there was a smile inside but none showing on the outside!

B-man, I put a bit more backspin on longer tables, it reduces the pitch and yaw (lower thumb)
