• March 25, 2013 10:49 Strip Land Valued: Casino-industry columnist Howard Stutz reports in today’s R-J how Boyd’s recent sale of its Echelon site to Genting puts a figure on the current value of Strip land at approximately $4.02 million/acre—a far cry from the $34/acre that Phil Ruffin received back in 2007 for the site opposite Wynn that housed the New Frontier. The site of the former Klondike casino, at the south end of the Strip, recently fetched just $1.5 million an acre, but at 87 acres, the Echelon site is one of the few large parcels available, is more centrally located, and has frontage onto both the Strip and Sammy Davis Jr. Parkway (formerly Industrial Road).
