Lucky Alligator Rose

Spread the love

Took a few days to Northwest Louisiana for some fun and games. Drove from home in Central Texas on Sat to spend a night with Rose’s brother in East Texas.. Had a great visit. Got up early Sunday morning for 2 nights in that little oasis just over the border from Texas. From her brother’s house it is a very short distance to the 5 casinos in the area.

During that day had mixed results. Rose couldn’t get it together like she usually does. I had three short rolls (one 14 roll) and we took a break. The dice looked good but the old 7 had a bad habit of showing up too often.

After a break and some lunch, which included some out of this world pecan cobbler, we went back to the tables. I had a few decent rolls with a nice 24 containing nine 6’s and 8’s followed by a 12 roll but way too many single digit turns with the dice. That would be int for the day for me. Rose decided to try some speed count as craps wasn’t working well for her. After a while, I quit and headed to the BJ table to try my hand at speed count. She had left and was on another level with some full pay VP. The BJ was a $25 double deck game. First time through the dealer got the cards and old Doc got crap. On the second shuffle, the count got positive and continued to climb. I managed to go from an opening bet of $35 to $150 with a nice double down at $75 and a natural at $150. The yellow card came up and the dealer shuffeled. Played another shoe and broke even. Decided I had had my run and headed to fine Rose—with a purple and 2 blacks in hand. A nice profit.

We called it a day. Got up early and to the tables about 6:30. I had mixed results with several short rolls–a 3 roll followed by a point seven out followed by a 16 and a 14 but too many trash numbers. I was about even.

Then The Beautiful Alligator Rose caught fire with back to back 24 and 31. We were now very much on the positive side with 14 pictures of Ben Franklyn. We had more than doubled our respective buy ins. That would be it at craps for the trip.

Now the lucky part. At one point in the trip Rose got tired and wanted to sit down. Not a good BJ game with an open seat. The open seats were either 6/5, continuous shuffle machines, or 8 deck shoes. Will not play 6/5 or continuous shuffle machines (CS machines for short–CS stands for chicken Sh**) and simply don’t like the multiple deck games. She decided to commit a few dollars to a game new to us–a carnival poker style game. She usually plays a max of 5 to 6 hands. On the 4th hand, lady luck landed in her seat and between her 2 cards and the dealers 3 community cards she got a whopping 4 ladies. The pay off——40 pictures of old Ben. The second day she decided to give another short try and got a full house for 10 more pictures.

We play these games very seldom and for extremely short periods of time at table minimum. We all know the vig is too high, but for a short rest off of your feet and without a decent BJ opening it is a break and we will not lose much.

We dicided to head home as the conditions were crowded with few tables open. The win is safely deposited in the old 401g. Yes, we did get back with more portraits of Ben that we have had in a long time.

Looking forward to AC in March.

Doc
