Life on the Home Front

My part of the country will be on the national news in AM

Spread the love

Well that was close. Leaving from Murray Ky to go home from a retirement party, decided to hit the mens room. Glad I did.
The bridge over Kentucky lake got hit at about 8 pm on Thursday, and I was the third vehicle back from the span that dropped out of sight.
The first vehicle , a dodge Dakota, with a couple aboard, came within a couple of feet of going in.

It will be interesting what daylight brings.

With the bridge out, our commute to Murray will now take 1.5 hours instead of 40 minutes.

Life goes on, and the journey continues

Looks like the ship held together better then the bridge. Glad that you needed that bath room break.
Good Rolling. 😀

With the light of day, and many people including the news people taking video, it is amazing that was all that happened, AND no loss of life!

My mind keeps wondering what if I had not used the facilities before I left. Would I be on top of the boat or in the drink!

My wife was ahead of me by a bit, as well as a few others from the party, many got through but two of us had a long trek home.

I would think that the span can be remanufactured in a timely basis, since it seems that the supports were not or minimally damaged by the incident. It was built section by section, do it again with just the one.

I am glad you and your wife are safe. Bridges need care and sometimes municipalities (how do we do spell check?) skip over this as they try to curtail budgets. Not a smart move. We have a bridge in New York, Tappen Zee, that is on the verge of being on the verge of hitting the water.

See this topic, to get help with spell checking… you’ll be glad you took a few seconds to add the Google Toolbar for general browse spell checking on EVERY web site/text box:
