I Am Leaving Golden Touch Craps

Spread the love

I am retiring from Golden Touch Craps. It’s been a great 10-year run. Dom has bought my shares and he is now the majority shareholder in the company.

I wish to thank all the great instructors we have (and those we had in the past) for making my involvement with GTC so much fun.

However, I am not retiring from writing or casino play or holding my casino festivals. I have a new book coming out in the spring, Everything Casino Poker, showing how to beat video poker (written with Jerry “Stickman”), how to beat Pai Gow Poker (written with John “Skinny”) and how to win at Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hi-Lo (written with Bill Burton).

I just finished a new non-gambling book Bless Me Father for I Have Sinned: Confessions of a Wayward Catholic. This is now going through the editing phase. I am also going to sign a two-book deal with Triumph Books (formerly Random House). One of those will be about all the great players I have ever met, including new information about the Captain.

I will also continue with my section of the CasinoCityTimes web site and I will have a new web site coming in the near future — Scobe Speaks. Obviously I will continue to write for magazines and newspapers. So I will be quite busy.

I would also like to thank all of our students and members of this site. Since I will continue my casino playing I will probably see some of you at the tables.

Still, the time has come for me to say goodbye to GTC and I wish the best to all of you in and out of the casinos!

Frank Scoblete

It was roll 144 , Frank was just as fresh as when he started. he looked
around at the table, all the payouts, the shouting, it like it was all in
slow motion. Roll 145, 146, 147, that was the Captains roll, he remembers,
but now he is doing, not watching…. roll 148 , 149 , seeing the early days
, 150 , the first students then the instructors…. 151, 152 , the birth of the
horseman, 152, 153, hundreds of faces of students, hundreds of names
154, thousands of hands, 155 the top of the latter.

Time to lose some of the stress of life and get back to the game, where you
can just play the game as Frank and not carry all the burdens and expections
this has placed upon you.

Congratulations… and best of luck.

The Diceman Cometh . . .

Frank, my very best wishes to you and yours on your retirement from GTC. Writing is obviously your passion, and we all look forward to seeing your future works.
GTC offers a life changing event to thousands of players. To have an opportunity to learn from the very best, as you have provided, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you!
To paraphrase from The Phantom comic strip of about fifty years ago, "The King is . . . retired, long live the King".

Dom, my very best wishes to you. You have an unbelievable group of instructors and staff and colleagues. And, I should add, a devoted group of former students turned good craps players that have made tons of money with your help. (and avoided losing tons of money) Good rolling!

Posted by: Stephen C on January 18, 2013, 1:50 am

While I congratulate you on your retirement from GTC, I also feel saddness at our loss. One of my favorite times during the year is getting to talk to you, no matter how briefly, during one of the LV classes.

Good luck Frank

Frank-I hope you enjoy your new road. Since you live so close, how about being my process server? Nah, you will be much too busy traveling the new road. PHIL

Frank,

Thank You Very Much for all you have taught us through the years. Recently you told me at the Chicago refresher to keep my arm closer to the table and to continue to work on my rhythm. Those two tips have made a huge improvement in my delivery. My dice are spinning better and travelling in an even path.
Looking forward to the new books and possibly running into you in the casinos. Take care, Frank!

Frank –

You changed the game for me forever, and for the better. It is good to know you are staying in the game. Thanks for your genuine contributions to the game of craps. Your writings are unique in that they aren’t there just to sell books. You have always cut through the pie in the sky stuff so that anyone who learns from you learns the realities and realistic expectations of the game. Will GTC be selling your upcoming books?

It has been a pleasure to meet you, read your books and attend the classes. I know I have met a legend in the Craps world. You will be missed. I hope to run into you at a table someday. Posted by: Stealthman on January 24, 2013, 12:13 am

No, no, no, no!

Who is going to be the other half of the Abbot and Costello routine in class? This helps the first timers feel SO welcome because of the jokes and other antics that helps them feel at home and relaxed! Who is going to come up with some of the instructors other not so famous names.

You gave us all encouragement and I hope it does not stop through the GTC forum!

Thanks and many good wishes.

Hope that diet of yours is still on track!!!

Maybe you can make guest appearances because people want to meet you.

We are all looking forward to your future projects. Stay in touch.

Posted by: Guest on January 29, 2013, 2:25 pm

With Frank gone Dom has big shoes to fill but he has to remain who he is and not try to be someone else. He is one of the great gamblers of all time and that is his recommendation to the rest of us.

Posted by: Guest on January 30, 2013, 5:38 am

GTC is grounded in reality and I think that is what will keep it at the top. Frank helped build this great organization and the teachers will keep the high standards.

Posted by: Guest on January 31, 2013, 12:20 pm

I think you can see in other posts that new ideas are flourishing not because Frank is gone but because this is a dynamic company. I think doing the video course in other places than just Las Vegas is a great idea.

Posted by: Guest on February 1, 2013, 12:52 am

GTC is an ongoing organization. I think it will be just as great in the future as it is now.

Posted by: Guest on February 1, 2013, 6:31 pm

There is going to be a big gap with Frank gone but I think the instructors would be making a mistake if they try to radically change how GTC does things. There is a tendency to want to put your own stamp on a company when you first take over and sometimes this leads to mistakes. I would take it slowly.

I do think that Dom and the instructors will continue to do a great job and all of us are wishing that Frank continues his great writing in the gambling area. I am also looking forward to his non gambling books as I loved the VIRGIN KISS and the story of his and Stickman’s trip to Hawaii.

Posted by: Guest on February 1, 2013, 11:46 pm

Dom and Frank made a great team and I am sure that GTC is on solid footing. I will miss Frank but I have the utmost confidence in Dom and the instructors to continue to keep GTC at the top.

Posted by: Guest on February 3, 2013, 3:02 pm

I hope you are leaving up your posts and your Wisdom section. These have helped many players.

Posted by: Guest on February 6, 2013, 1:52 pm

In the future I wish you all the best but I do have a request. Keep us informed as to any public things you are doing and for all your books. I think the GTC members would want to know about that.

Posted by: Guest on February 6, 2013, 8:11 pm

I notice you have been posting almost daily on Facebook and on the Golden Touch area of Facebook. I’ve enjoyed your posts and keep them coming.

Posted by: Stephen C on February 6, 2013, 10:13 pm

Hell with the interest this post has generated and owing to the fact that Frank is no longer subject to the Partners/Instructors rule I nominate this post for POM. 😀 😀 😀 😀 Probably POY

Posted by: Guest on February 7, 2013, 1:26 pm

Great idea. He should be given a retirement party too. 😀

Posted by: Guest on February 8, 2013, 6:15 pm

You could consider doing some guest appearances at the GTC classes. I think students would love that.

Posted by: Guest on February 10, 2013, 4:57 pm

When Frank’s new books come out make sure someone posts them here. I think we all want to keep track of what he is doing.

Posted by: Guest on February 11, 2013, 11:31 am

I would have liked some of the instructors to give some words about Frank as he leaves GTC. I would think after ten years he would deserve that. I wonder why they haven’t said anything?

Posted by: Goddess on February 11, 2013, 1:26 pm

They were said to him privately.

Posted by: Guest on February 11, 2013, 5:02 pm

Thanks Goddess.

Posted by: Guest on February 18, 2013, 7:53 pm

I’m thinking since you live on the east coast you should come to the AC class and meet everyone. Why not?

Posted by: fscobe on February 25, 2013, 4:08 pm

Sorry I haven’t responded to any of the posts but I have been traveling lately and also finishing up two new books and preparing for the publication of a third (out in May) that I’ve written with Bill "Ace-10" Burton, John "Skinny," and Jerry "Stickman."

The title is Everything Casino Poker: Get the Edge at Video Poker, Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo and Pai Gow Poker.

These are advantage-play games and we show how to beat each and every one of them.

I have also been traveling a lot. I’ll try to check in from time to time to say hello.

Posted by: Guest on February 26, 2013, 9:17 am

Thanks
