height of dice?

Spread the love

I have been playing with the angle of y shoulders to allow me to lower or to highten the flight of the dice any one else played with this and is there any thoughts about it.

You know droping your front shoulder down to lower the dice and raising it up to make them fly higher?

You have experience and longevity that I do not have. I have tried using the dropped shoulder to adjust the height of my throw. I was not happy with the practice results. It added a another variable to the setup for the throw. Are my shoulders at the correct angle for the throw I expect? Do I have to adjust the throw and release point as the pivot point of the arm swing is now changed? I found just too many additional things that can go wrong when throwing.
For me, I have found it best to concentrate on perpendicular shoulders to the green wall, shoulders fixed and parallel to table top and to adjust for distance and table conditions by adjusting my throw and release point.
I throw with a pendulum throw from the shoulder. After setting and gripping the dice I begin by positioning my throwing arm to the end of a 3-4inch back swing. Once locked on my target I allow my arm to dangle forward a couple inches to a neutral centered position (would be about directly under my nose) then a small back swing and forward and release.
I have found this to relax my arm, gives me a sense to keep the speed of the throw slow, and most important the arm is swinging in a straight line toward the target. From grip to release is just a matter of seconds.
Brothelman, this is my experience and .02 cents worth. It is a good day to throw. Set44 😀 😀 😀

Bman, soory we had to cancel out trip out today. But I am doing much better and look forward to next month.

The only adjustment I have made to allow for a table that is bouncy or hard is the point of release—lower for a bouncy table and a little higher for a hard table. I really don’t want to make many (if any) changes to my throw. Moving the shoulder around doesn’t seem like a good idea. Remembe we want a simple easy swing so that the muscle memory will not have to be adjusted.

Just my thoughts and look forward to other posts on this subject.

When you say you adjust for a bouncy table with a lower ark, does that mean you hit the table further
from the back wall. i ask because we have very different tables here, 1 16 footer which i try to avoid, a v ery very bouncy 12 footer, a real nice tub and a very bouncy tub. i like hard tub most times, the bouncy one
is harder , but i have had some nice outings, the 12 bouncy table i have never had a good run… ever.
and i like the table it is low very, nice to get over, but i cant stop the dice from bouncing.

Yes I try and hit the table a little further out from the back wall but not too much–maybe a couple of inches. To be honest when I see a bouncy table I usually play for very low stakes like a $5 PL bet with single odds or more than likely I simply don’t play that table. Another way to say this is "if I don’t like the conditions such as bouncy table, too crowded where I will only get the dice every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, can’t get position, too tired—you get th picture I simply refuse to play. My 401g account is simply too valuable to risk in a foolish manner.

In the above situations I believe that the edge for me has or may well turn negative.

Just my rambling thought.

I wholeheartedly agree with Dr Crapology’s sage advice above.

If advantage play conditions don’t exist, don’t pretend that they do, or hope that you’ll "get lucky"…

Save your money and advantage play for another day…

This post had nothing to do with table conditions it had to do with getting more height in my dice, i feel they are to flat and i am strugling with it.

anyone who knows me knows i do not talk table conditions on the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never ever bring them up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Three places around town have made drastic changes to their tables in the last month due to the things people carry around with them.

If I want to change the trajectory I raise or lower my arm at release. I don’t change my shoulder position because I want them square to the table. If you raise your shoulder it can get you to shoot off your back foot which is not good.

Try practicing with the goalpost at different heights to get the idea and feel. After a while it becomes second nature and you should be able to raise or lower your arc at will by how high or low your arm is at release.

Bman The last time I was in casino I heard one guy ask another how I was throwing the dice and he said fine except a little high and what do you know the 7 came out on that throw. Maybe I should not pay attention to others.
I tired the post about 45 degrees and that gets the dice pretty high have you tried that.
I hope I don’t play at the casinos that have changed for you know that I am short and even shorter with 5 finger shoes. I think with my shoes I am 5 foot 5 now with a bigger belly that makes it even more fun.
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

Carrying things?

Not sure I understand all of this post, but Brothelman is absolutely right about posting appropriately…

Thank you for pointing this out and for your ongoing efforts at policing the site. It is appreciated!

Bman I know what you are talking about.

Bman I thought that your shoes gave you the height that you needed .

First off remember that we want everything to be square when we are setting up to throw the dice including our shoulder, so do not change the angle of your shoulders. Tempo is also very important, not too fast or too hard but nice and steady. When the dice leave our hand or the tips of our fingers they should travel in a trajectory the reaches 45 degrees and this will give us our distance to reach the table end.

The only time we want to change this trajectory or angle is if we have a bouncy table and we will lower the angle.
