This is a book I learned about while listening to a local talk show reviewing Forstchen’s latest. I hesitate to state I hate it because I love it too, its one of those books you do not want to continue reading. While at the same time you don.t want to put it down. I was at times reading with tears streaming down my face putting it down swearing to never touch it and then finding myself drawn back to it like a moth to flame.
Set in the modern times Carolina mountains, the main character is a retired Army Colonel who lives there with his two daughters. The location is his wife’s home town where he brought her after she’s diagnosed with terminal cancer. Now he works in the local Christian College as a History professor.
After there is a series of Nuclear detonations above the atmosphere of the US everything including our civilization comes to a stand still. More accurately it gets blown back to the late 1800.
If you have any questions about why me must keep countries like Iran from getting the bomb or why North Korea is such a threat to us now that they do read this book. It will literally scare the loving shit out of you.
