Hello Folks:
A number of GTC forum users have asked how they can get an e-mail notification when new posts are made to the forum. That feature is still available in the new forum software.
At the bottom of every forum section, in light blue, is a ‘subscribe forum’ link you can click. Click it to subscribe to that forum, and you will be notified whenever there is a new post in that forum (or any sections below it.) When you are subscribed to the forum, it will display an ‘X’ beside the ‘unsubscribe forum’ text (and, it displays a checkmark when you are not subscribed.)
You do not have to subscribe to individual subforums… you can subscribe to ‘Message Boards’ and ‘Annoucements’, and that will notify you for just about everything!
NOTE: when you subscribe to a forum, or topic, you will only receive ONE e-mail when a new post is made. You will not receive any new e-mail notifications until you go to the forum and view it. Then, you will receive e-mail notifications once there are new posts. This is done this way to stop a flood of e-mails from coming into your e-mail box.
You can see and edit all of your subscribed forums in your User Control Panel under ‘Manage Subscriptions’.
If you want to subscribe to an individual topic, there is a similar link at the bottom of any topic when you view it.
Some users have requested a ‘daily digest’, where they would a daily or weekly e-mail with all the new posts at the forum. That feature is not available in our new Forum software: use the forum subscribe feature at a high level instead, to receive individual e-mails for each new post.
