AC Last Weekend – OR – Dom Is Right, Again

Spread the love

Last weekend my Wife and I decided to head down to AC Saturday morning, stay the night and come home Sunday. I have been practicing at home a lot, entering my numbers in Smart Craps, and I am starting to show a small advantage.

We got to AC and we stayed at a different place than usual. This place has some 12′ and some 14′ tables. When we first got there, the 12′ tables were open. I got my spot at SL1. The guy at SR1 was throwing and sevened out quickly. The dice came to me. This was my first shoot of this trip. Well, to my total surprise, I shot a nice 30 and made some good money. The table min was $10.00. I am working with The Big Skinny betting. By working I mean testing it at home. This trip was my first real try at the tables. Since I did not know how thing were going to work out, I only took $25.00 odds, instead of $50.00 odds. I hit several Come bets and made almost my initial buy in back on the first roll. The next 2 times I rolled, I rolled 15’s both times. So, I shot 3 times and made over my initial buy in. I was so excited!

My Wife and I decided to play some Pai Gow after lunch, which did not go very well. We decided to take a walk on the boardwalk and ended up at the Roman place. My shooting was poor and I lost money. The one bright spot was I shot 4 hard 6’s in a row. I was not on a Come bet with a 6, and nobody bet the hard 6, but it was still really exciting to shoot 4 in a row.

We headed back to our original casino, had some dinner and I went to the tables again. The 12′ tables were totally packed, but there was a SL1 spot open on one of the 14′ tables. I had been practicing at home by setting my practice rigs for a 14′ table, but I had not done well at all. Once the dice came to me, I shot an unbelievable 56! I made just under twice my buy in for that session. I now know what people mean when they say they were "in the zone." It was totally wonderful. The biggest distraction was a drunk guy at the other end of the table shouting words to some Country Western song about the "Dew Drop Inn" or something like that. Anyway, I was somehow able to tune him out and it was fantastic. I started off only taking $25.00 odds again, but about 1/2 way through I started taking $50.00 odds. The next 2 times I got the dice I did not do well at all, so I colored up and went to bed.

Sunday morning, after breakfast, I went back to the 12′ table, and was again able to get SL1. There were 3 of us at the table, so I did not have to wait long for the dice. I shot twice, and did not do well, so I colored up, $50.00 down, and went home.

The reason I put in the title of my post "Dom Is Right, Again" is, I remember Dom telling us at the class in LV last year that you need to bet based on your SRR and calculated edge. Each time you throw the dice your SRR goes with you. Starting off betting small to see what happens may cost you money. I don’t think I have the quote right, but the basic message is correct. I agree, Dom is right!

Thanks to the GTC team and family for helping me head towards winning at Craps. Winning is much more fun!

Actually, it seems to me that overall this was a learning experience. If betting on three numbers by using Come with only half the odds is done because you are concerned about bankroll, then go down to two numbers and go with full odds. You want those odds bets.

Nice trip report Chevy. The key to your success was that you were able to zone out and focus on the task at hand. I like the phrase "Practice what you play and play like you practice". When you step up to a live table, you should play exactly like your practice routine. Try not to think about 2 vs 3 vs 5 times odds or the money at risk. I would practice it like Frank suggested… full odds on less numbers when come betting.

Keep up the good work.
