Craps

Size Table for Home Practice

Spread the love

I am looking to buy a craps table for the house for practice. I’m not sure what size to get 8, 10, 12 or 14? Room is not a problem. I am afraid the smaller might not give the same feel as when I am at the casino. Any suggestion?

Doc K,
If space and money are not an issue then get a 14 foot table. You will find 14′ is probably 80% of all tables in casinos. Just what I believe to be correct and what I would do if I had the space. Set44 😀

Personally, I would get a 12 foot table as these are the ones I play on most. If I wanted to practise for a 14 foot table because I thought I would be playing on that length then I would move back to SR2 and practise from that length.

What size table do you normally play on? 🙂

12 footer for the reasons given by Getagrip. I see more 12’s rather than 14’s..

Have you looked at the GTC tables they look real nice. I built my own but that is not for every one. Look under post . (table ) Has drawing and pics some were out there.
Hope you get a nice one and enjoy it.
Good Rolling. 😀

Doc K.
Buy the size you plan to play on in the casinos. If you almost always / perfer 12′, then buy 12′. If you almost always /perfer 14’s then 14. If you play both, maybe you should think about a 12. SL2 would be your SL1 on a 14.

Whatever you choose, you’ll enjoy having one for your own. 😀

Alligator Rose and I have an 11 foot table—for room considerations as our house is not real large. We can easily practice for 12 and 14 foot tables on the 11 foot table. Just know where the position for 12 and 14 foot tables will be. You will still have plenty of room for a short back swing.

If you are having a table made I would make an additional suggstion as I wish I had done this with mine.

Have both sides of the table look like "the stickman side of the table." Why? For practice at home and for any craps party you might have who needs that low area where the chips and the boxman are locatged. If both sides of the table are the same (like the stickman side) you can practice from both sides of the table. Have one end of the table be microfiber and the other felt. Then you can practice for these two most common table fabrics.

Give this some thought and if you wish to visit further let me know.

Thank you all for your comments! I’m going with a 12 foot table and adjust from SL1 and SL2 for the difference between 12 and 14 foot tables.
