As is our usual routine, we went to the Jack and Betty B&B Monday night, and were able to practice on their table in the evening and morning. Unfortunately, it didn’t help any of us Tuesday morning in the casino. We each took 3 turns with the dice, and then went to Pai Gow. After a late breakfast, Sandtrap lit up with tosses of 5, 19, 19, 13, and 17 (the last with all 6’s and 8’s). Skinny finally caught up with us, and we went to another casino where I had a match play, and a free buffet for dinner. We played some Pai Gow, and were treated to a new kind of harassment. A delightful woman at Jack’s table was being criticized by a male player for not betting the bonus envy. She and the man started screaming at each other, and the pit boss could barely get them to stop. Jack tried to come to her defense, to no avail. Shortly after they calmed down, two spots opened at our table, and they moved over to us. Nobody could believe the verbal abuse to which the woman was subjected. After dinner we took 3 turns with the dice, and again we stunk.
Wednesday morning (Skinny slept in) we couldn’t get on a craps table, so we played Pai Gow and Video Poker. After a late breakfast, we got on an open table. Skinny left after 3 turns, and went to Pai Gow. Jack tossed a 16, 5, 23, 6, and 3. Sandtrap tossed an 18, 3, 13, 8, and 3. I started with a point 7. I was on a nice profitable roll at 14 hits, when a young man on my left throws a bunch of bills on the table right in front of me when I already had the dice and was in the throw. Of course, I threw a 7. He never made a bet, and left the table, so what was the rush? The man next to him was furious along with the rest of us. My next roll was an 18, followed by an 11, and then a point 7, so we called it quits.
We went to Pai Gow, and I wound up sitting next to a chain smoker who was deaf and mute on my right in the corner. I tried to motion to ask him to keep the smoke and cigarette to his right. He pointed to his ear and mouth, implying he didn’t understand what I said. However, he made himself very well understood to the dealer, and I am convinced he could read lips. He stayed up all night playing, and was there when we went to play in the morning (since we couldn’t get on the craps table). This time, I sat in the opposite corner, with Sandtrap next to me. The non-stop smoke continued, but at least it wasn’t in our faces.
After dinner we played for 40 minutes, and quit. It just wasn’t our day for craps. But Pai Gow was very good to me with four of a kind ($125) and a straight flush ($250).
Thursday morning Skinny again slept in. Sandtrap and Jack struggled, but I had a decent session. It took me awhile to warm up (or wake up) with rolls of 3, 2, and 8. But then I broke through with a gorgeous 40 roll (twelve 6’s, twelve 8’s, and 7 passes), followed by a 17, and then a 13. After a late breakfast, I rolled the only profitable rolls of 15, 13, and 8. We again quit and played Pai Gow. Again four of a kind and a straight flush enhanced my bank roll.
We went to an early dinner, and then saw a Country music show with impersonators of Willie Nelson, Reba McIntyre, and Tim McGraw. It was very, very loud, and we couldn’t hear when we got out. Skinny went to play Pai Gow, but the three of us got on a craps table. I started off with a beautiful 32 roll (eight 8’s, eight 6’s, two 5’s, two 9’s, some 10’s, and a few craps). My next roll was a 21, and then we quit after Jack had a 19 roll. A very profitable day.
Friday morning was exceptionally good for Charlie. (Skinny again slept in.) His rolls were 9, 24, 17, 10. He shot so many 9’s during all the rolls, the dealer asked him "What did you step in today?"
When Sandtrap came back from a bathroom break, the dealer asked, "You didn’t clean off your shoe, did you?" He continued with a 27 and 20, also with multiple 9’s. There were so many, I lost count of the total, but Sandtrap had $75 on the 9. Jack tossed one 15, and then a player put his arm out. During the next toss, the dealer put his arm out, and Jack made his point. Jack told him, "Keep your arm out!"
We waited for Sandtrap’s oldest daughter and her boy friend to join us for lunch. By the time we finished gabbing, it was 2:30, and we decided to stay to avoid traffic. We returned to an empty craps table, where Sandtrap tossed a 22, with six 6’s the first six rolls. With that, we went to Pai Gow, deciding to wait until 4pm to leave. This particular dealer, as well as the pit supervisor, had no clue about the way to set the hands the House way and the rules of the game. Three times I had to tell her to change her hand. I then asked a pit boss, what would happen if I didn’t correct her until the end of the payouts. As I thought, the dealer cannot set the hand wrong. All the hands would be returned to the players, and all payouts returned to the dealer. The dealer would have to set her hand correctly, and the payouts corrected.
A profitable, interesting, and educational trip.
