Captain's 5 count

Spread the love

I have read several books on Craps that suggest the 5 count method. I was curious, when you are using the 5 count do you not bet at all on the pass line? I was curious how that part works since you have the best chance to "win" as there are more ways to make a 7 and 11 then anything else. Any input, or correction would be helpful. Thanks

Depends on how you are betting of course.

Once you have 5-counted a shooter the pass line is the same as the come bet. SO after you have 5 counted a player and they are back to a come out roll by all means place a wager on the pass line along with odds after a point is made.

I am sure you will get a much more detailed response.

Search back thru the archives for lots of info. Re-read the book Franks book(s).

Your correct on the initial come out for most every player except yourself the Pass line bet is a non starter. That is where the 5 count shines. The average player is going to throw a 7 before you ever make it to 5. And some will throw that bad guy on the 6 with your check on the Come and you win, they lose, don’t you hate that.

Unless the player is extending the roll I never get past a single come bet with single odds. I will start looking for a second Come bet after collecting several times on a single one. And I may not even go to the Pass line with them. Then move upward as the throw progresses. I have a new appreciation for the Off/On the Come bet affords with repeaters.

If I’m with another GTC player, depending on how their throw looks, I will not subject their theirs to the 5 Count.

The Beautiful Alligator Rose and I do this. On a chicken feeder (CF’er) she goes up on the first roll after the five count and I take the second roll after the 5 count. One come bet each with single odds. That way we have two numbers covered.

If either of us is playing alone (not often) we simply take one minimun come bet with single odds after the five count.

We make an exception to these rules and it is a bank roll consideration. If playing a $15 table, after the five count is completed I place $18 on the 6 and she does the same on the 8. That way we only have $36 at risk. If we do as mentioned above with a come bet with single odds for each of us we have $60 at risk. Way too much risk in my humble opinion for CR’er.

What happens when you are blocking and not betting the pass line and your GTC partner is having a hell of a roll and you want money on the pass line number he or she has just established? Place that number but have the dealer place the bet in the box not on the pass line. If on the pass line you might well have your chips in the way of your GTC shooter.

Just a few thoughts.

I did read several of Franks books and I am just now in the book "Casino Craps: Shoot to Win" which is 2010 and where all the stuff is getting updated and changed, LOL. I have never gotten a chance to try the Captain’s SUPERSYSTEM with doey don’t, and I just read that I shouldn’t though I had been very interested in the idea. There’s a reason why its called Evolution though I guess. I guess the wisdom of the 5 count is that even though I don’t win on the passline I also don’t lose and there a lot of ways to do that as well…

Once the 5-Count is completed you can bet on the pass line when a shooter is coming out. You just have to make sure the 5-Count is done. Casino Craps: Shoot to Win! goes through this thoroughly.

what is the difference between the passline bet with odds and a come bet with odds?

Nothing they are just made at different times in the roll the house edge is the same.

There is one big difference with the Come Bet that everyone seems to ignore!

If you have a controlled shooter holding the dice, he is attempting to avoid the seven so. therefore, you are making the equivalent of a Put Bet!!!
