Getting ready for the opening of casinos

Spread the love

As the casinos begin to open, there will be changes in how we will act and throw at the craps tables.  As a result Rose and Doc have a couple of ideas we wish to share with everyone on how to get prepared for what we will experience at the craps table.  We have seen some emails, yahoo pop ups and other sources concerning what we might expect.  Here are a couple of ideas we are trying to incorporate into our practice routines:

1.  Since we do have social distancing (generally 6 feet)–SL1 may not be open, so we are beginning to practice at our table at SL1 & 1/2 and SL2 (or if you’re shooting from Stick right make the adjustment by being a little further away from the stick).  If you use a practice rig to practice, move the throwing station 18 to 20 inches further out.  You do need to get used to throwing a little further.  (Remember all you need to do is increase your back swing a very small amount and reach as you come forward through your target.)

2.  Using a mask when at the craps table.  We find that a mask is a little uncomfortable and bothersome and as well as a little more difficult to breath.  We have been practicing with a mask for the past couple of days and the results in the beginning were not our best results, but as we practice with a mask and get used to the darn masks, our results have improved.  Don’t like the masks, but they do provide a very important protection.

3.  Get a pair of thin rubber gloves.  Here is how we plan to use the gloves.  When not the shooter wear both gloves.  However when it is your turn with the dice, take off the glove on the throwing hand, so you will have good contact with the dice and you know that your grip is correct–it is our understanding that the dice will be sanitized between throwers.  You may want to take off the glove on the throwing hand while the player ahead of you is throwing so you will not bring too much attention to yourself as your turn approaches.  As your turn progresses, do all of the placing of your chips on the table with your gloved non-throwing hand –it is our understanding that the chips will not be sanitized very often.  Once your turn is complete, head to the bathroom, wash your hands or at the very least put hand sanitizer on your throwing hand.

We are sure that others will have some similar ideas as well as experiences at the tables so please do share them with all the members of this board.

We can’t wait for the August class.  It is our hope that this class well be held and we can get back in our GTC routine.  Look forward to seeing every one soon.

Take care and be safe.

Rose and Doc, while getting ready for the opening of the casinos, have been practicing wearing a mask.  Don’t misunderstand us, we hate the mask but as we get used to it we find that it does not bother near as much and our results have improved while wearing one.

So the lesson here, if you plan to wear a mask in the casino (and we hope you will as it is most important to get used to one and be courteous to those who might be a little more at risk–and Doc is) be sure to practice some so you can set the situation you will be using in the casino.

Good shooting.  Look forward to seeing how many on this board are doing now that the casinos are opening.

Here in AZ they opened up and the cases have gone up . I think it is like what happened in Japan . there was a hole in the fence at a zoo and about 80 monkeys got out and went crazy .

The casinos are open and the wife looks at face book to see on things are going . IT SEEMS THAT SOME CASINOS SAY ONE THING BUT DO SOME THING DIFFERENT . We were planing a trip but now we are thinking different , We are safe at home and I will start practicing with a mask . Since if we go we will wear them .

Hosp. now are getting nurses from out of state .

Our trip to Spain was cancelled by airline and they have no flights in JUN. JULY OR AUG. They sent us an E-mail .

Good Rolling.
