Then you should click on that link again and listen to the entire 5/22/20 White House press briefing from the very beginning.  You see the link that was posted above starts at 38:50 into the 42 minute press briefing.  It is only at the end of that briefing does the press secretary take the press corp to task.  If you want to hear it all go to the beginning of the YouTube video.

The President begins the briefing and is followed up by Dr. Birx who gives a lot of information about where we are as a nation with the virus.  Her talk has a lot of data in charts which she explains so that people can understand a complex subject.  The main goal of the briefing is to provide information to the public at large to assist the states in opening up businesses as a result of the progress that has been made thus far. 

If you put the same effort into looking for the information that you do into complaining that it isn’t there, you might find it is sitting right in front of your eyes all along.

@finisher if you would have watched the press conference you would know in addition to what @skinny wrote, that President Trump said that all houses of worship are now essential and he wanted americans to be able to worship in a safe manner. He went on to say if any state tried to deny its citizens those rights he would over ride the governors of those states. Now after Dr Birx spoke and the press was able to ask questions, they seemed to focus on President Trump saying he would over ride the Governors asking, “could he do that?” The press IMO, focused on trying to make something negative out of the fact that all houses of worship can re-open, safely. The very next day I did not see one news story about churches could open, what I saw was the press saying that the WH secretary disclosed Trumps personal banking info, total BS, she held up a check and told us what charitable organization he was going to donate his paycheck too. So that is a little more of what you would rather hear, I still think the lady is a hottie.

Jezzzzzzzzzz! Chris Wallace saying that he and Sam Donaldson never had to answers from a press secretary while they were covering the White House.

@finisher the elephant in the room is not a republican, it is not a football coach from Alabama either, its the fact that you did not watch the press conference. The slides were not cut off I could see them fine on television, it is likely that the you tube video is cropped, or zoomed in, I did not watch it, I posted the last 4 minutes commenting that the white house press secretary is beautiful and smart. I think it is safe to say you disagree, all of your comments are outside the scope of this topic. Whats more is that Dr Birx pointed out (as @skinny mentioned) the progress being made and the downward trends all across America, except for a couple of hot spots. She stressed that it is important to be able to identify these hot spots and shut them down, she stressed how important it is to test for asymptomatic individuals spreading the virus without knowing. In my county they have only been testing individuals with symptoms, last friday (Phase 1) that changed and testing is now open for all at some sites. We are all in this together, I believe there is a lot of power in positive thinking and hope that everyone will do their part, not just wear a mask or social distance, but see the light at the end of the tunnel and think positive thoughts and not judge because you might not know the whole story. It pissed me off to see a tweet yesterday complaining about Trump playing golf they said “His Priorities are off”, I had to laugh, they did not watch the press conference and hear her say a couple of times to get out and play tennis, play golf. My thought was he is leading by example it is safe to get out there as long as we follow the guidelines. Dont touch the flag stick, dont touch another players golf ball, or tennis ball. Stay six feet apart. Stay home if you are sick.

I agree with what you have said about most every thing . Like lead by what he does not wear mask and he said he would hire the best but does not take their advise and if he does not like,like their advise they are GONE period .

Trump is not against absentee ballots when there is a valid reason for an individual to request a mail in ballot.  He himself is registered to vote in Florida and votes by mail because he is temporarily living in D.C.

Soldiers provide a large voting block for Trump.  Most of them vote by mail because they are stationed overseas or at a post away from their home.  Do you really think he does not want soldiers to vote?

He is against Democrats trying to get everyone to vote by mail.  They are sending absentee ballot applications to people who never requested them.  Trump feels mass mail in ballots provide opportunities for voter fraud and the destruction of our voting process.

He does not care if Kayleigh McEnany votes by mail as an individual because she has a valid reason for doing so.   

The states did NOT follow the CDC guide lines like I said they should and now instead of no cases in April like trump said we have Way more .period . We need a leader not a cheerleader with all that is going on . He missed this by a mile I think . Saying there would be no more cases by April with all the info at his disposal . You need to do a better job just saying .

You guys like math so do it he said when there were 15 cases it would be gone so how wrong was he math wise ?

I feel sorry for all the deaths and I would cry my eyes out if it happened to one of my loved ones, but death happens. With 40 Mil out of work and so many in one form or another in the hospitality business that will never go back to their jobs, something is wrong. We just can’t live our lives in fear.

The first shut down was about 15% they say now and that it should have been more to get a better handle on it . 

I see that in your math and that even with those numbers out of work does not mean that the whole business shout down . Since a lot went into take out or deliver mood . My son-in-law has been a sommelier for 15+ years and worked for a very famous restaurant chain in NYC, with great benefits and health insurance. They have one child and another one on the way. My daughter does baby sitting in her apartment. The restaurant has been closed since Feb-March. They can’t do outdoor or take out because they can’t setup on the sidewalk. She doesn’t watch children anymore because all the families are watching their own kids because of school closing. The restaurant chain has already closed up for good a few that the owner owns. When NYC opens up is anyone’s guess with their, excuse me, A-hole Governor and Mayor.

The supplemental unemployment insurance ended last night because the Dems will not even just let a bill go in to just continue the supplemental. They asked me if I could help them with a loan yesterday. My son in law has applied for jobs else where at restaurants that are able to serve food outside but those have hired back their old employees.

I have friends and relatives that are on the same side as you Finisher. They have kids that have been able to work through this mess because they are teachers or construction workers. But their are many more like my child’s family that have fear of eviction and if they can ever find work again.

Teachers don’t want to go back to work and don’t even tell me that they care about the kids, maybe some do, but they are getting paid either way. These damn politicians on both sides, Republicans and Democrats don’t give a damn. Both parties have so much pork in this new bill that don’t have anything to do with Covid relief. I say let the people read each bill that is out their so we can see the pork! NEVER has any bill that has been passed in 100 years has been opened to the public. The swamp runs deep on both sides.

Then along comes Trump who says things that people like me has said for years. A non politician that became the President and both sides NEVER want that to happen again … a non politician become President! Hell, that is THEIR job!

And don’t get me started on Dr Fauci who was recently called “America’s Doctor”. At 70+ years old he finally got his 15 minutes of fame. He destroyed this country. De-fund the police, have a hearing with our AG and never let him answer a question! People getting fired because they are Trump supporters…on and on!

I am different, I own a couple of companies so no one can fire me. I might lose some of you that read this post, and I hope not, but I am sick and tired of this whole mess. I want a country for my grandchildren that I grew up in and my father and uncles fought for and maybe some of you that are reading this.

We have to stop the fear of this disease. More will die, but that is just a fact of life. We have to live again!

When I look back I think when Obama got elected things were bad and I felt sorry for what he had to deal with and now things are even worse period .

I saw the past 3 Presidents and thought when will these times come back to America .Presidents that cared more for the people then themselves . This line says it all. I didn’t like so many things that Obama did. My health insurance went up tremendously and I could see the doctor that was my doctor for 30+ years because the insurance I was forced to get unless I wanted to pay $2000 per month he didn’t take.

Republicans in the Senate and Congress tried to stop Obama, that is true, but they didn’t try from day one to IMPEACH him. They didn’t give an acceptance speech like that congresswomen that said during hers was to “impeach the Mother Fu*&^&*”. Yes Republicans tried to block Obama’s bills, but they didn’t have the hate for him as so many Democrats have hate for Trump. Name me one Republican that didn’t attend his inauguration, but I can name you many that didn’t attend Trump’s, John Lewis for just one.

So yes, the government ran smoother.   Like I said, during this administration both Republicans and Democrats in office hate Trump and want him out. They both do realize that that is the very reason people like me elected him. We couldn’t stand the promises from both sides that never materialized.

Dom The big thing you have over trump is that you are a leader . I say this in seeing that you LISTEN  period . Trump may listen but does not take good advise unless it is for his benefit period . I worked for many people threw my life and one year I had 23 W2s with working for some more then once . The kind of work I did was off and on . So what I am getting at is I had seen a lot of different kinds of leaders threw those years from good to bad and inbetween . But I expect more from the President period .

I knew you were a Vietnam vet and it brings back memories of sitting in the Rat Skeller at UB while they picked the birthdays for going to Vietnam that year. My birthday was #96 and they took up to 94 that year. Honestly, I got to tell you that I contemplated going to Canada but knew my father and uncles would have cut off my Ba*&^ if I did that. All I know is this, everything you said about Trump, the people that voted for him knew that, TV reality show, 4 wives, whored around, all that. But I also knew that the Walt Whitman ice rink was a disaster in NYC and he completed it under budget and on time. He knew how to brand himself and he made a fortune doing that branding. We all knew that but he spoke his mind and like I said before he said things that I and people like me have said.

Presidents before him promised low unemployment and never did, except Regan, to 3.5 %. Minority groups had the lowest in history. We got to have borders and we got to bring manufacturing back to the US. Obama said that US manufacturing is a thing of the past and will never come back. Trump proved him wrong.

Look it, I can not say that I love all his tweets but the way the media treats him, well I think he can’t help but go directly to the people. Doing it at 4:00 AM, well I go to tell you that I am up everyday, everyday at 5:00 AM and I grab a coffee and begin my day. Actually this week I started at 4:00AM myself. All that is BS as far as I am concerned. I didn’t vote for the perfect man/husband, I voted for someone that I felt would get the job done, no matter who he left along the way. That is what I wanted.

I have always thought the UN was an organization that was worth less and anti US and I am glad that other countries are paying their share finally no matter who he piss*&^% off. I would put his record against any former President in our lifetime for what he has done in 3.5 years.

There is a lot to being President . I think that he is way over his head . LOOK at just lately with the new doctor that he likes . All around him should have said something about her period . They probably did but he did not listen . I just ran into a friend that I had not seen in awhile and he told me that this virus thing is all going away on Nov. 3 .

I was in before they started the number thing . While in Nam I had a friend that was in boot camp and ended up not making it out . His brother was in Nam at that time and they brought him home and he then became a recruiter for the rest of his time . Some of these viruses can be real bad . It was going around when I was in boot camp but I  did not get it .

I think the CDC should be doing more not just GUIDE lines . Like you say you can lead to water but can not make them to drink .

I do think the whole fear and intimidation around the virus has been politicized. This was the way they would get Trump when all the others failed. Only thing I can say I remember bad was he filed bankruptcy once, I also remember him suing Palm Beach over the US flag, they had complaints about the big flag he had at mara-lago and wanted it down, he won that suit. @finisher yes Sir, a lot of people are like that, that goes to their credibility, at least we agree that the press is spewing a biased spin on everything Trump says or does. I am glad you watched that video of Joe Biden I cant imagine anyone voting for Biden after seeing how he behaved with those little girls, it was hard to watch, over and over again he was touching them inappropriately, just really hard to watch and I dont understand as many have said after watching it why he was not arrested and charged.

Now they are after Biden because he wont take a cognitive skills test, Trump took one and passed but Joe refuses and gets upset when asked why, then he cant even complete a sentence, I cant imagine voting for Biden, as much as Trump is a tool, he is the logical choice. I wish we had someone with Trumps expertise and experience but the personality of Reagan, or George H., now there is a real American hero.

oh and to answer your question about stocks, yes my portfolio has some nice gains this year I am up 38%. Nothing like the recession in 2009 when Obama was in office, the publishing company I worked for laid off 50 people and never re opened, I was unemployed for the first time in my life and health insurance tripled in price.

I would say that you were vary lucky with the job thing . In the first 25 yrs of my working I was on one job that lasted for ONE year, other wise I was being laid off more then most . It kiddy came with the type of work that I do .

This kind  of gave me some ideas as to how good people are at running jobs tho . I did run 2 jobs during that period . One was a one day job since I had another job to go to the next day . The other was a 2 day job which was a week apart so had other jobs during the off period .

I hope that Trumps advisors can convince him that he needs a PLAN going forward . Just saying .
